We recently met with Mr. Tony Murfin, a GNSS industry veteran, a business consultant and a contributing editor for GPS World’s OEM Professional column to discuss the state of the art Low Power GPS Receiver and Extended Ephemeris technologies.
Tony’s article describes two unique approaches to help lower the power consumption of GPS receivers:
- Use a cloud-based service to instantly capture the GPS signals and then remotely calculate the position
- Use an online service to speed up the time it takes a GPS receiver to calculate a position
Both of these technologies are designed to significantly reduce the energy required to power the GPS receiver. In the up and coming blogs, I will describe more about how these two different technologies work. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
